Maddie has been insisting on wearing some ugly brown shoes I got her EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. no matter what else she has on. So today I put out a dress & tights that would match the brown shoes. And today she insisted on wearing RED shoes. But she was really excited to wear her dress/tights & shoes to Lily’s house so we had to photo document…
This is a size 12 months dress Patsy got her LAST fall. D’OH!!!
Check out the bear!
Trying to help fold (by unfolding) the baby blankets that I’ve folded 1,000 times.
Well, that was a short lived love affair. We came home from the hospital today and had a peaceful, relaxing afternoon. Then Maddie came home from daycare and it all came crashing down. Even though she says she wants to hold Bea, what she really means is that she does not want US holding Bea. And so it begins:
This behavior comes after the thoughtful little Bea gave Maddie her very own baby stroller as a “can I come into your world peacefully?” present:
Lost in all this is that Bea is such a sweet little girl. She just wants to cuddle and nurse with her Momma and hang out in the baby sling with Dad. So far she has been a great sleeper- and while we are not highly religious people, we are thanking Jesus Christ and any and all higher powers that she does not despise sleep like Maddie did (and still does) . Maybe she just has a lot of Metcalf in her. We really need the sleep because despite the ridiculous amount of cuteness she can overwhelm with us with, Maddie made it abundantly clear the last two days that she is not going to make this “adjustment period” easy. So we can use all the help we can get.
Here are a couple of more pix from the homecoming:
Here’s a little video we shot of Maddie’s reaction to meeting/holding Bea for the first time. She was a little shy at the time, but one short day later Maddie already considers Bea HER baby and will not leave her alone (and not necessarily in a good way). She loves her to within an inch of her life.**
Sorry it took so long to get these pix up. Everyone is hounding me but I forgot my camera cable at the house, went home to get it and the left the camera there. Yep, I’m a dope. Plus, I know have three little ladies constantly demanding my attention and I feel asleep standing up- twice. So you guys who want pictures just had to wait.
Little Bea was born on on Tuesday, September 7 at 5:06pm. Weighing in at 8lb 5oz, 21 inches and reading to kick some butt. She met Big Sis Maddie on Wednesday and the cuteness quotient of that first encounter was so high that it made baby puppies seem like horrifically bad breath. We love her!! I shot some great video which I’ll be putting up, and I’ll be sure to keep posting to the blog as often as I have time. So check back.
You really do boil water when having a baby.
